Carriers to Introduce New China 24-hour Rule Charge

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced it will apply an Advance Manifesting Surcharge of EUR20 or GBP20 per B/L for all shipments from the U.K, and Ireland to or via China, effective March 1, 2010. This is to cover additional administration costs following the introduction of the 24-hour rule by the Chinese customs authorities, OOCL said.

The Hong Kong carrier will also apply an Amendment Fee of EUR30 or GBP30 for all Shipping Instruction (SI) change requests received after the SI cutoff.

Australia’s ANL is also introducing a Manifest Process Fee of US$25.00 per B/L, effective March 1, 2010, to cover additional costs relating to China's 24-hour rule.
