Descartes DataMyne has unveiled that 1,461,171 TEUs of containers were exported to the U.S. from 10 major countries and regions in Asia in January, up 6.1%, posting a year-on-year increase for the 23rd month in a row and setting a new record for the month in question.

By origin, exports from China grew 0.4% to 882,245 TEUs, enjoying the leading share of the pie, according to statistics compiled by the U.S. research company from Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and bill of lading (B/L) data provided by the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP).

Those from South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam were all brisk, which surged 19.1% to 152,954 TEUs, coming in second place; 23.6% to 91,481 TEUs, third; and 35.1% to 86,580 TEUs, fourth, respectively. Containers from Japan finished in seventh place, swelling 6.3% to 37,570 TEUs.
