Ports in China handled a total of 19.997 million TEUs of containers in October, which increased 8.2% from a year earlier, according to the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT). Container throughput was brisk at both coastal and inland river ports, which processed 17.784 million TEUs, up 8.2%, and 2.213 million TEUs, up 9.7%, respectively.

In the 10 months from January, 197.015 million TEUs were moved to and from China in total, which grew 8.9% year on year. Coastal ports were responsible for 174.725 million TEUs, up 8.2%, and inland river ports, 22.29 million TEUs, up 15.5%.

By port, major ports enjoyed positive growth in container lifting across the board. As for coastal ports, Ningbo-Zhoushan and Guangdong both registered double-digit hikes, which soared 13.7% and 10.1%, respectively.
