The revenue index for services bound for the west coast of North America and interior point intermodal (IPI) destinations went up by 5.5 points to 79.09 points in January, making the first positive growth in two months, according to the TSA Revenue Index, which regards June 2008 as its baseline month with a value of 100 points, unveiled by the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA). The index rose by 1.6 points from a month earlier, reaching as high a level as it was in February 2016.

The index for services destined to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast picked up by 7.48 points to 74.03 points, registering the first year-on-year improvement in two months. From December last year, it rose by 2.6 points to reach the 70-point line for the first time since February 2016. Freight rates were favorable for services to both the east and west coasts.
