China's Shenzhen Municipal Government has announced the implementation of the ship Emission Control Area (ECA) program in the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Bay rim area, effective October 1, 2016, two months ahead of the schedule announced in December 2015 by the Ministry of Transport.
Within the control areas ship operators will be strictly required to use fuel with 0.5% m/m sulphur content or below when ships are alongside or at anchor.
