As of February 1, 2016, China’s Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs expanded the scope of automatic import license customs clearance to every region of the country. Customs had piloted the paperless system at the ten regional customs houses (Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Huangpu and Gongbei) since August 15, 2015.
The nationwide implementation of the automatic import license paperless customs clearance operations is expected to promote paperless customs clearance reform and improve the level of trade facilitation.
