Japan exported 1,254,074 secondhand automobiles in 2015, declining 2.3% from the previous year, according to a report released by the International Auto Trade Association (iATA). The nation’s exports of used cars, which had continued to increase for five consecutive years until 2014, made an about-turn, suffering negative growth.

By destination, exports to Myanmar incurred a double-digit decrease of 12.1% to 141,066 units, but managed to win first place. They were followed by those to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which surged 20.7% to 136,212 units. Ranked third were those to New Zealand, which were also brisk, growing 7.3% to 110,333 units.

The Tokyo-based organization’s report, which was compiled from trade statistics unveiled by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), indicated that exports to Sri Lanka, Singapore, Bangladesh, Jamaica and the U.K. were also very robust, soaring quantitatively, but that those to Russia, Georgia and Zambia all plunged.
