The combined volume of containerized shipments handled in October by major shipping companies among Japan and 12 other Asian economies was 1.252 million TEUs, growing 3.2% year on year from 1.214 million TEUs.

In the first 10 months (January-October), they moved a total of 11.911 million TEUs on the intra-Asia trade, increasing 2.3%.

Exports from Japan declined 9.9% to 152,000 TEUs in October, while imports were also sluggish, falling 1% to 188,000 TEUs.

From January to October, exports went down 4.7% to 1.48 million TEUs in total, and imports, down 0.6% to 1.854 million TEUs.
