The Port of Yokohama processed 59.62 million tons of shipments in total (up 1% year on year) in the first half (January-June) of this year, enjoying the first year-on-year growth in two years. International cargo totaled 36.65 million tons (down 0.6%), which was made up of 15.07 million tons of exports (down 3.9%) and 21.58 million tons of imports (up 1.9%). Domestic cargo accounted for t 22.97 million tons (up 3.8%).

Containerized shipments amounted to 1.443 million TEUs (up 0.4%), which also increased from a year earlier for the first time in two years. International containers came to 1.305 million TEUs (up 1.6%), registering the first year-on-year improvement in four years, or since 2011, when the East Japan Great Earthquake occurred. In breakdown, exports numbered 698,000 TEUs (up 0.9%), and imports, 607,000 TEUs (up 2.4%). Domestic containers totaled 138,000 TEUs (down 9.9%).
