Container throughput at Chinese ports totaled 16.962 million TEUs in June, up 5.5% from the same month last year, according to China's Ministry of Transport. Seaports' container volume in June increased 6.9% year on year to 15.253 million TEUs while river ports handled 1.708 million TEU, a decline of 5.6% from a year earlier.

For the first six months, box volumes at Chinese ports totaled 96.698 million TEUs, up 5.7% from the same period in 2013. Seaports volume amounted to 87.125 million TEUs, up 6.9% from a year before while river ports processed 9.573 million TEUs, down 4.1% year on year.
