Container traffic at Port of Los Angeles, in the US state of California, recorded a whopping 34.2% increase year-on-year to 675.274 TEUs in March.

Loaded imports went up by 41.5% on the year and came in at 327,497 TEUs. Loaded exports grew by 21.6% from a year before to 187,826 TEUs. Empty containers, imports and exports combined, amounted to 159,951 TEUs which represent a 36.3% increase on year.

At the adjoining port of Long Beach, box volumes for March fell 1.9% from the same month in 2013 to 477,209 TEUs in March.

Loaded imports dipped slightly by 0.7% year on year to 223,432 TEUs while loaded exports declined 1.5% on year to 153,883 TEUs.

Empty container moves went down by 5.4% from a year earlier to 99,894,426 TEUs.
